The Jerusalem Marthoma Church Suvisesha Sevika Sanghom at our parish is an extension of the Marthoma Suvisesha Sevika Sanghom (Women’s Auxillary) of the Mar Thoma Church established at the 1919 Maramon Convention by the late Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Mar Thoma Metropolitan. This organization owes much to the self-sacrificing work of Mrs. Kandamma Varghese, who worked untiringly as the organizing secretary for over 20 years traveling far and wide, organizing branches in parishes and performing evangelistic work among Christians and non-Christians. Training women for evangelization, bringing relief to the needy, providing medical help through medical missions, running hostels for working women and spreading the Gospel through Mission centres in and outside Kerala are the prime means through which, the Sevika Sanghom has been providing remarkable service to the Lord.

The Savika Sanghom organization of the Jerusalem Mar Thoma church was formed in 1934 when Rev. C.M. John (later Yuhanon Marthoma) was the vicar and since then this organization has played an integral role in the spiritual and material growth of the parish. The first Sevika Sanghom day was celebrated on the 12 September 1948 when Rev. E.I Kuruvilla was the Vicar of the church. The members serve on committees, perform charitable services, raise funds for outreach ministry, provide fellowship meals and contribute for the general development of the parish.
The members meet every Friday from 10 to 12 at the church for Bible study and prayer. Topics such as Women of the Bible were selected and studied under the leadership of our Vicar and Asst.Vicar. Sevika Sanghom day is celebrated usually in September at which time women provide leadership for Church service. One day retreats are held based on availability of leaders. Women participate in church activities and help families in times of need. Bible study is conducted on every Tuesdays at Kudamaloor, Thursdays at Kanjikuzhy and Kodimatha and on first and third Tuesdays at Union Club-Karapuzha area.

Every year Bible classes and discussions are organized based on a theme. Health classes and counseling programmes are organized regularly. The Sevika Sangom members visit the sick and the needy and extend their help. Visit to a charity home and spending a day with the inmates and giving financial help is part of the annual activities of Jerusalem Marthoma Sevika Sangom. Jerusalem Marthoma Sevika Sangom provides educational funding to a student of Perumbavoor Balika Mandiram and it also supports the missionary of a mission field. Mission tour is organized to this mission field to get a firsthand experience of the work being done there. The funds for these financial supports are raised by organizing food sale. Jerusalem Marthoma Sevika Sangom extends help to the centre, diocese and Kendra Sevika Sangom activities. Savika Sanghom supports local charities and raise funds for New Church Development project as well as other development projects. Savika Sanghom also provides financial support to Marriage Aid Fund and other charity projects of the Mar Thoma Church. Sevika Sangom also provides a fund to the Guidance Centre and Pakalveedu.
