Jerusalem Marthoma Yuvajana Sakhyam affiliated to the Marthoma Yuvajana Sakhyam has been functioning in the church with a vision to encourage the four fold programs of Worship, Study, Witness and Service. It functions with a view, to help the youths of the Mar Thoma church to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour; to train in worship and the fellowship of Christian life; to participate in the mission of the Church; to have faith in Christian values; to organize and conduct camps, meetings, discussions to increase the knowledge and experience of youth in the Holy Bible, church’s faith and practice.
Yuvajana Sakhyam plays an active part in Jerusalem Marthoma Church and actively participates in all church activities, at the same time.The activities of the Yuvajana Sakhyam are aimed at developing in the youths: faith in the Christian vision and values; active participation in the evangelistic work of the Church, interest to know and study the Bible, the history, faith and practices and ecumenical movements of the Church as well as organizing discussion groups, study conferences and training camps to instill interest in contemporary social problems. In order to achieve the aims JMC Yuvajana Sakhyam instructs and train the youth through worship, study, service and witness. The Sakhyam is engaged in these four fold programs as follows:
Worship: The Sakhyam members regularly attend the church worship and communion services. Many of our members serve as lay ministrants and choir members. Apart from the corporate worship, the Sakhyam members also participate and give leadership for area prayers and activities of other church organizations. The Sakhyam members lead the special services on Youth Sunday, including delivery of the sermon.
Study: The Sakhyam uses its periodical meetings, retreats and annual camp for Bible study and discussion of contemporary themes.
Witness: The Sakhyam members share their experience with fellow youths and others during house visits and also during witnessing sessions in the church
Service: The Sakhyam has given great importance for educational aid and following are the projects being implemented and monitored by the Sakhyam.
The Sakhyam conducts an annual youth camp Koinonia. Several other programmes organized by the Yuvjana Sakhyam serve to showcase and encourage the talents of the Sakhyam members and children in the church and also helps the Sakhyam to raise funds for its activities.The funds collected by the sakhyam through various ways are utilized for helping the needy.The Vicar and Assistant Vicar provide active leadership and guidance for the Sakhyam activities.
