Jerusalem Marthoma Church Hospital Guidance Centre, Arpookara


Jerusalem Mar Thoma Hospital Guidance Centre is a project of the Jerusalem Mar Thoma Trust, a charity oriented organization promoted by Jerusalem Mar Thoma Church, Kottayam. JMTHGC founded on 1993 by Jerusalem Mar Thoma Trust to offer love, comfort, and shelter to the needy and poor patients. Our loving God nourished the philanthropic project through the helpful hands of many well-wishers; and the novel scheme obtained remarkable appreciation among the public, and it progressed through leaps and bounds.

About Us

The Jerusalem Mar Thoma Hospital Guidance Centre is located in Gandhi Nagar, Kottayam, which is only 200 meters away from the Government Medical College Kottayam. It is owned by the Jerusalem Mar Thoma Trust, functioning under the guidance of Jerusalem Mar Thoma Church, Kottayam. The Rt. Rev. Dr. Mathews Mar Makarios is the Patron, Rev. George Mathew is the chairman and Rev. Tom John is the Vice Chairman of the institution.

Our Mission
As a called out community it is our mission and vision to help those who are in distress, agony and loneliness. The Jerusalem Mar Thoma Guidance centre extends services to the sick and the needy, irrespective of caste, religion and class. The centre functions as a hope for the patients and their relatives coming to seek medical assistance from the Government Medical College Hospital, Kottayam. Patients from far and near and new to the city approach the institution. The Centre guides them to the appropriate doctors and departments. It provides transport facilities for the needy patients to return to their homes at near and distant places.

The guidance centre provides accommodation facility mainly for the patients and bystanders who seek treatment in the Medical College Hospital. Often the out-patients from the hospital also seek shelter in the centre for their short stay. There are dormitories and in addition the centre provides rooms for the neediest patients, undergoing Chemo therapy / Radiation therapy, and also for kidney, heart patients after surgery especially to safeguard them from infections.

Providing of Food
The centre provides dinner daily for the inmates free of cost. Well-wishers join hands with the Centre in this humanitarian service, and sponsor special food for the beneficiaries on personal occasions like birthdays, wedding anniversaries, etc. The expenditure on meals is approximately one lakhs per annum.

Hospital visits
The Social Worker of the Centre visit the hospital daily, pray for the patients and help them in distress and provide necessary assistance when the patients are unable to communicate with the hospital authorities. The centre also helps the patients to take the O.P tickets those who are coming from the distant places.

Medical Aid
The institution manages to give medical support to those, who deserve and in desperate need. Medicines and financial help are given to the deserved. Treatment for cancer has become more costly. Financial support for deserving patients can be enhanced, subject to the availability of more funds for medical aid.
Ambulance Service

The Centre provides twenty-four hour Ambulance service for the needy patients when they need to be moved to hospitals and back to their homes. Free ambulance services are also provided to take the poor patients to the hospital.

Blood Donation
The guidance centre manages to find blood donors, in case of emergency, especially when the patients from distant places are unable to find out any donors. Preference is given to the cancer patients.
The Chapel is a place of fellowship and worship in this institution. Many times the Chapel has turned to be a place of healing and sharing of peace for patients in the midst of all their pain and agony. There is worship every evening conducted by Mr. Jovin George (Social Worker) and Achen. All inmates are expected to attend the worship.

Kurichi Mission Centre



Kurichi Mission Centre started in 2006 as memorial of Rt. Rev. Dr. Philipose Mar Chrysostom Marthoma Metropolitan’s Episcopal Golden Jubilee. From 2007 onwards, the programmes at the Kurichi Mission Centre are organized by the Edavaka Mission. Evangelist Mr. Ajeesh Abraham serves as the missionary. Ordinary Worship service is held on all the first Sundays under the leadership of the Vicars and on third Sundays under the leadership of the Missionary. The missionary conducts Bible classes for the children on every Mondays from 5pm to 6.30 pm and fellowship meetings on Mondays and Tuesdays. Fasting prayer is conducted on the first Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of each month. Medical camps are conducted on every first and third Sundays at 2.00pm. Hospital visits and visits to the sick and needy is conducted regularly under the leadership of the missionary. Christmas Carols and Conventions are organised at the Kurichi Mission Centre.
